NEW 12-WK Facebook Course: Fundamentals in African History with Runoko Rashidi (Starting Fri, 6/24th from 9:00PM – 11:30PM, ET)

NEW START DATE – FRIDAY, JUNE 24

Family, beginning Friday evening June 24 I will begin my Summer 2016 Facebook course. It is called Fundamentals in African History with Runoko Rashidi. All are welcome. The classes, taught through text, photos and videos, begin at 9:00 pm United States Eastern Standard Time (6:00pm PST, 7:00pm MST, 8:00p, CST) and last approximately 2.5 hours per class. The classes, of which there will be twelve, are interactive, meaning there is ample time for questions and answers and discussion. The course project, completely voluntary, is to compile a succinct timeline of the history of African rebellions and resistance movements, at home and abroad.

The complete cost of the course is only $50.00 per household. The total amount is used to help subsidize our ongoing efforts to rewrite and reconstruct the global history of African people. The course will be taught on a special Facebook page set up specifically for this purpose.

To pay your $50.00 tuition post via my PayPal link (page-top, right column) to Runoko@hotmail.com. You will be immediately notified upon receipt of payment and enrolled in the course.

No special equipment is required. You only need a Facebook account.

Here are the individual classes. I reserve the right of course to make revisions to the course.

  1. Hello Dr. Rashid and staff, my sister and are having problems with the PayPal. Have anyone had any trouble paying for the Class schedule for 6/17.

    • Greetings Leland Courtney Simuel! This is Teresa, one of the website administrators. I have not heard that anyone else is having trouble with the site, can you be more specific regarding the specific problem you are encountering?

Another option you can do is to make the payment via GoFundMe, and just make the note that the $50.00 is for Dr. Rashidi’s Fundamentals in African History class. I also manage that site and I will relay the notice of payment to Dr. Rashidi.

      • Update: Hi Leland Courtney Simuel, you can also just use the PayPay link at the top of this page. Thanks!

  2. Greetings, I also had problems with the paypal link in the course description. I use paypal tab in the upper right. Is that ok?

    • Greetings Kenkeisha! You are correct, thank you for pointing that out! I have removed the problem link from the course description.

  3. Good morning Dr Runoko Rashidi,
I’ve just received an email from you about enrolment on your African History. I had received conformation already

  4. Hotep Brother Runoko
I’m interested in the course that starts on 6/24 I’m a truck driver and come home on the weekends, if I miss a course on Friday would I be able to see it another day?

    • Greetings Daryl Donerson. I’m a site admin, answering questions for Dr. Rashidi. When you are joined to the course group page, then all materials remain posted to the group page through the duration of the 12-wk course. So you can go back at any time and pull up past session materials. Also, a transcript of the class is typically saved to .pdf and uploaded to the page under the “Files>Uploaded Files” link. So with either way, you shouldn’t miss out on anything. I hope this answers your question.

  5. Hello.just making sure you were in receipt of payment for tonight’s class..

    • Greetings Monica. When Dr. Rashidi receives the payment, he usually responds back with an email, and also join you to the group. If you don’t get an email from him before tonight’s class, then check and confirm you are in the group—that would be definite confirmation you’re in. If you’re still not in the group then let me know and I’ll check with Dr. Rashidi later. I’ll be monitoring this page during tonight’s session.

        Darren

        • Greetings Bro. Darren! Unfortunately, “Fundamentals in African History” is not a reoccurring course and is unique, as are each of Dr. Rashidi’s courses. If for some reason you are unable to attend “Fundamentals…” I’m sure Dr. Rashidi will honor your participation in any future course. Rest assured that each of Dr. Rashidi’s courses are exciting and packed with information, photos and links, along with the personal perspective that only he can provide!

  10. Hi Teresa-
I paid for the class yesterday, will I be able to participate in tonight’s course?

  11. Hello,
This is Olabisi. Is it too late to join the session? Did I miss a lot?

    • Greetings Rosaline Olabisi. This is Teresa, one of the site administrators. You have missed 4 sessions so far; however the transcripts from each class is saved, and anyone can read them at any time, so nothing is lost. The last session was held Fri, July 15th. Currently, the course is on Summer hiatus through Aug. 5th, due to Dr. Rashidi being on extensive travel out of the country. The sessions are scheduled to resume on Fri, Aug 12th. If you are still interested, pay for the course (if you haven’t already done so) and you’ll be provided with the link to join the page. Hopefully this answered your question; let me know if I can be of further assistance.

  12. Hi if I join the course now will I be able to review the other sessions and catch up?

    • Greetings Ayanna Davis. Yes you will. Please refer to my responses to many of the previous Comments, because this same question is asked again and again…. Yes you will be able to view all previous content because the content for each session remains posted throughout the duration of the course. Hope this helps 🙂

    • Hi Berlin. So sorry about that— I’m not sure what is happening. Couple things you can do: 1) send another request to join ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1716633531925815/ ) I’ll be looking for it, and then to add you.
      2) You can give me your Facebook profile name, and I can search for you and then join you that way. What is the Facebook name you go by?
