DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1 – Monday, August 12th

Depart Washington Dulles airport via Ethiopian Airlines flight 501 at 11:00 a.m.

 

Day 2 – Tuesday, August 13th

Arrive Addis Ababa at 7:15a.m. Connect on Ethiopian Airways flight 815 at 10:25 a.m.

Arrive Kilimanjaro airport at 1:00 p.m.

Meet, greet and transfer to Arusha

Afternoon city tour of Arusha

Evening Dinner at hotel
Overnight at Arusha Serena Hotel          (Dinner)

 

Day 3 – Wednesday, August 14th

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Lunch at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Afternoon crater tour

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

Day 4 – Thursday, August 15th

After breakfast drive depart for morning crater tour

Return to the lodge for lunch

After lunch visit Olduvai Gorge Museum and a Masasi Boma

Day 5- Friday, August 16th

Dar Es Salaam

After breakfast drive back to Arusha

Lunch at a restaurant

After lunch transfer to the airport for your schedule flight to Dar

Day 6 – Saturday, August 17th

OPTIONAL – Day trip Bagamoyo – $160.00 PER PERSON

(Former Capital of Tanganyika)

0900hrs, depart from Dar es Salaam to Bagamoyo. Bagamoyo has played various historical roles in Tanzania. Apart from being a slave and ivory port, it was also a German headquarters in 1891. Explorers such as Burton, Speke, Grant, Livingstone and Stanley all passed through this town. The name Bagamoyo comes from the Swahili words “bwaga moyo”, meaning “throw down your heart,” a despair expressed by people who were captured as slaves, knowing that they faced uncertain future. On arrival, visit the Kaole Ruins, ruins of the Shirazi trade town (13th– 17th century). Lunch will be served at decent restaurant. (Visit of the Bagamoyo School of Arts for a Ngoma (traditional dance) session may be arranged upon prior notice. Extra cost applies). The tour ends in Dar es Salaam city center at around 1730hrs.

Day 7 –   Sunday, August 18th

Dar Es Salaam/Zanzibar

After breakfast embark on a half day Dar Es Salaam City tour.

Dae Es Salaam known as the Haven of Peace in Arabic, has one of the best deep natural harbors in the world with over 120 tribes and a population of about 3,500,000 dwellers, Tanzania has grown to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in East Africa.  Exploring a city tour of Dar Es Salaam you will visit the National Museum, Nyerere Cultural Centre, the Village Museum, Mwenge Carvings Market, and the Magogoni Fish Market.

Day 8 – Monday, August 19th

Zanzibar

After breakfast transfer depart for Stone Town Tour and Spice Tour

The Stone Town tour allows you to walk in the ancient streets where you will gaze at its white washed buildings, teak carved doors, bazaars and antique shops. You will also visit the Zanzibar Museum, the sight of the famous slave market, slave chambers where slaves were kept before auctioning, the tower of Beit-El-Ajaib also known as the House of Wonders built by Sultan Seyyied Barghash (1870-1888) and the Old Arab Fort (1700).

Day 9 – Tuesday, August 20th

Zanzibar

After breakfast transfer depart for Nungwi Tour – Full day

Nungwi is located at the North tip of Zanzibar Island, 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the StoneTown. Nungwi has crystal clear waters, an excellent place for diving, snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing.

This trip leads you through the Mangapwani cave which is 30 minutes drive from Zanzibar town. Up to 1911 the cave was a secret hide out from which slaves were kept illegally then transported by dhow, after the official closure of the Slave Market in June 1873. You will then proceed to Nungwi which is an hour drive from the cave.

 

Other highlights of this tour are:

  • Visit a site where local villagers build dhows and boats using traditional tools.
  • Visit the natural turtle aquarium.
  • Visit villages.
  • Swimming & Sunbath

Connect on Ethiopian Airlines flight 500 depart Addis Ababa at 10:45p.m. (Breakfast )           

 

DAY 12 – Friday, August 23rd

Arrive Washington Dulles at 8:40 a.m.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

Cancellation: In the event of cancellation a 25% fee will be assessed for cancellation received within 60 days of departure. All cancellations must be received in writing, and are subject to a $150.00 administrative charge.

 

Cancellation made less than 45 days prior to the departure will be assessed 50% of the tour cost. Less than 10 days prior to the trip, NO REFUND. Deposits are non-refundable. There are no refunds once the tour has commenced.

 

Baggage allowance – Each tour participant is allowed 2 (TWO) checked bags not to exceed 50 pounds per bag. One carry-on which must fit in the overhead or under the seat of the plane (not to exceed 15 pounds)

 

Not Included – Passport or visa fees, travel insurance (strongly recommended), excess luggage, and items of personal nature.

 

Responsibility – Africa Dreamer Tours/Cultural Heritage Africa Tours, and or their agents act only as agent for various companies over the lines of which tickets are available and these tours operate, and assumes no responsibility for liability in connection with the service of any train, vessel, carriage, aircraft , motor or other conveyance which may be used wholly or in part in the performance of its duty to the passenger, neither will it be responsible for any act, error of omission or for any injury, loss, accident delay or irregularity which may be occasioned by reason of any defect in any vehicle or through neglect or default of any hotel proprietor or hotel service, or for any other person engaged in carrying out the purpose for which tickets or coupons are issued., if it becomes necessary or advisable to change any hotel for the comfort or well-being of the passengers for any reasons, whatsoever or to alter the itinerary or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty to the operators. Additional expenses, if any shall be borne by the passenger, conversely, refund will be made to the passenger if any saving is effected thereby. The right is reserved to withdraw any or all tours should conditions warrant, also to decline to accept or retain any passengers as members of the tour. In such instances full or equitable amount will be refunded.

 

The airline concerned is not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passengers are not on board their planes or conveyance. The passage contract in use by the airlines concerned when issued, shall constitute the sale contract between the airlines and the purchase of these tours and/or passage. Payment of deposit for this tour signifies full understanding and acceptance of the aforementioned conditions.
