This is a tour that will focus on the culture, history and belief systems of the African Cuban people in Cuba. It will also include a very special visual presentation by Dr. Runoko Rashidi on the African Presence in the Americas.  A ten day program that will include travel to Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Matanzas and Varadero.  Space is very limited. 

Cost includes round trip air from JFK.  Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco as well as other departure cities are available upon request.  West Coast departures will be


Day 1 – Friday, December 2, 2016 (West Coast Departures leave on December 1, 2016) 

Welcome to Havana.  You will be met and transferred to your hotel.  Use this time to unpack, unwind before to dinner at Paladar Valdes.   Meals:  D 

Day 2 – Havana/Matanzas/Camaguey – Saturday-December 3, 2016  

  • After breakfast you will depart to the city of Matanzas where you will visit a Temple to a sacred house to observe the Afro Cuban tradition of Tamboreros Practitioners.  Later you will travel to the old French coffee plantation ‘La Dionisia’ where you will visit the original wells, the property of landowners, the barracks of enslaved Africans and other relics of the area. 

  • Traveling on to Camaguey a number of historical monuments.  After your tour you will go to your hotel to relax, explore and relax.   Meals:  B,L,D 

Day 3– Camaguey/Santiago – Sunday – December 4, 2016 

 After breakfast you will depart to Santiago de Cuba.  Today is a full day.  Your tours include: 

  • A walking tour of Santiago, a visit to El Cobre, A climb of the Cimarron Monument where the first enslaved African revolts took place.  Later in the evening you will visit the Society of Tumba Francesca La Caridad de Oriente to experience Haitian folk traditions. Meals:  B, D  

Day 4 & 5 – Santiago / Bayamo / Trinidad – Monday/Tuesday – December 5 – 6, 2016  

After breakfast you will visit the following: 

  • You will visit the province of Granma, the birthplace of General Rosa de Bayama, she was the first Afro Cuban woman to fight for independence.  She was a Warrior and Herbalist. ‘The Bayamesa’; Birthplace Museum Carlos M. de Cespedes, Father of the Nation; Wax Museum, Cathedral San Salvador de Bayamo.  Meals:  B,L,D 

Day  6 & 7 – Trinidad – Wednesday/Thursday – December 7-8, 2016  

 After breakfast you will depart for a full day of tours and visits. 

  • A very special visual presentation hosted by Dr. Runoko Rashidi on the African Presence in the Americas Part 1. 

  • Trinidad Tour, one of the first villages founded by the Spaniards in the early sixteenth century 

, declared by UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity villas.  During your historical and cultural tour you will be able to visit the Councils of Trinidad: The Cabildo of Santa Barbara (Chango), one of the oldest in the city ; and Yemaya Temple House (Virgen de Regla), distinguished by the large influx of parishioners  

 Day 8 – Trinidad / Vinales / Havana – Friday – December 9, 2016  

  • After breakfast you leave for  to Viñales Valley in the province of Pinar del Rio  

 Know the natural beauties in Viñales, with a brief stop at the Ranchón the Barrigonas,  

 surrounded by typical rural houses and plantations.  Meals:  B,L  

 Day 9 & 10 – Havana – Saturday/Sunday–December 10-11, 2016 

 It will also include a very special visual presentation by Dr. Runoko Rashidi on the African Presence in the Americas. 

  • After breakfast you will tour the Historic Center of Old Havana, Cultural Heritage and the House of Africa. . Tour of the house and presentation of folk group   Meals:  B, L 

Day 11 Havana – Monday – December 12, 2016 

  • You depart to the airport.  Meals:  B 

 

Accommodations:  4 Star Hotel Accommodations 

Meals:  Breakfast (11) Lunch (8) Dinner (7)

    Though this sounds amazing, what is the price in UK Sterling and also departure details if one wishes to join this journey?

  2. I just had open heart surgery and am recovering. Will there b a lot of walking? Currently I am using a cane.

  3. So when do you start the monthly payments of $500 and if your paying with a debit card is that single or double. It would be my husband and I so is that two payments if $500 and where do I make these payments? We would really love to go. We live in Fort Lauderdale by Hollywood airport. Could we fly from there or Miami airport?

  4. Travel to Cuba n November of 2015 & would like Dr Runoko to visit Matanzas & visit the memorial in honor of a slave wiman that lead the first sugar cane slave rebellion n north America….I visited this memorial & it was life changing for me…&my struggle in the BPM began in 1964

  6. Do you have accommodations for person in electric wheelchair? My father was Cuban, would love to go but am disabled.
