Day 1 Sunday, 17 July: Fly from JFK/NEWARK/ DULLES LAX TO ROME
Day 2: Monday, 18 July: Arrival in Rome, meet and greet, transfer to hotel. Brief orientation and overview of the tour, lunch and afternoon drive by city tour of the major sites of Rome–Coliseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Fountains, etc.
Day 3, Tuesday 19 July: Morning visit to Vatican City for museum collections. Afternoon lunch. Late afternoon complete the city tour of Rome or optional continuation of Vatican, including Michelangelo’s Last Supper.
Day 4, Wednesday 20 July: Drive to Florence. On the drive Runoko Rashidi provides an overview of Italy’s African Heritage. In Florence, do a standard city tour with a choice of a tour of the Archaeological Museum or shopping or the Uffizi Gallery, or just time on your own. Return to Rome. Overnight in Rome.
Day 5 Thursday 21 July: Early morning flight Rome to Cairo, Egypt. Check in at our Giza hotel and tour the pyramids on the Giza Plateau and the Pyramid Ship Museum. Lunch in Giza, visit the Great Sphinx, camel riding and shopping for jewelry, papyrus and perfumes. Rest of day at leisure. (L)
Day 6, Friday, 22 July: Lecture by Runoko Rashidi on the history of Egypt. Visit Saqqara: the Step Pyramid and venture inside Teti’s pyramid, see the tombs of Ptah Hotep and one other tomb. Lunch in Saqqara. Return to Cairo and tour the Egyptian Museum led by Dr. Rashidi. Shopping for carpets and Egyptian cottons. (L)
Day 7, Saturday, 23 July: Early morning flight to Luxor, Egypt. Arrive at our hotel. Visit the West Bank of the Nile–Hatshepsut’s temple, Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, Medinet Habu, late lunch, shopping. Rest of day at leisure to enjoy Egypt.
Day 8, Sunday, 24 July: Board our 5 star cruise ship. That day visit Karnak and Luxor temples and that evening the Luxor Museum led by Dr. Rashidi. Lunch in Luxor. Overnight on ship.
Day 9, Monday 25 July: The ship sails. Cruise up the Nile. Late afternoon stop at the temple of Kom Ombo. Lunch, dinner and overnight on the ship.
Day 10, Tuesday 26 July: Continue our sail up the Nile. Visit to Edfu Temple. That night a gallabia party on the ship. Late night arrival in Aswan. Overnight on ship.
Day 11, Wednesday 27 July: Move to our Aswan hotel, a city tour of Aswan, visit to the temples on Philae Island, enjoy a falucca ride and lunch at a restaurant on the Nile, visit a Nubian Village. Evening visit to the Nubian Museum led by Dr. Rashidi.
Day 12, Thursday 28 July: Early AM drive to the temples of Ramses II and Nefertari at Abu Simbel. Box lunch on the bus. Afternoon in Aswan shopping and leisure.
Day 13, Friday 29 July: Full morning of leisure. Check out of our hotel. Lunch, walk through the souq and more shopping. Evening train Aswan to Cairo.
Day 14, Saturday 30 July: Early morning arrival in Cairo. Check into our hotel. City tour of Old Cairo. Lunch, leisure, farewell dinner.
Day 15, Sunday, 31 July: Early morning departure for Rome for connecting flights back to the US. End of main tour.

City tour of Khartoum and Omdurman including a visit to the national museum, Ethnographic museum, Khalifa’s House (museum), Mehdi Tomp and the oldSuq (market) of Omdurman, and visit to the confluence of the two Niles (Blue Nile & White Nile) at evening return to the hotel
Day 3, Tuesday, August 02: Naqa – Mussawarat – Meroe
Drive to the ancient cultic center of Nagaa with the meromictic temple of Amun, the Roman chapel and the lion temple, about 160 km and Proceed to Musawarat as-Sufra 20 km, an extensive temple area with rare elephant depictions. Afterwards continue to the small town of Shendi, 80 km, and onwards 30 km to Meroe. Visit the largest pyramid cemetery of the Nile valley – dozens of black pyramids rise from the desert sands. Tent overnight in front of the pyramids of Meroe. Overnight in tents
Day 4. Wednesday, August 03: Meroe – Damer – Bayouda Desert- Deir Ghazali – Karima
In the morning opportunity to take a stroll and photograph the pyramids. Then drive to El Damer 100 km, crossing the Nile to Umm Tuyur on the west bank. Afterwards the route leads through the Bayoudadesert for 400 km, Visit to the ancient monastery of Deir Ghazali, then drive to Nuri, 25 km. Visit the cemetery containing the pyramids of the 26th dynasty, among them that of Pharaoh Taharqa. Crossing the Nile to visit the necropolis of el-Kurru, 18 km. The subterranean tomb of King Tanwetamani is decorated in the classical pharaonic style. Drive to Jebel Barkal, 18km Ascent to Jebel Barkal and afterwards visit to the great temple of Amun of Napata dating back to the 12th century B.C. The temple was the most important religious center of Kush, overnight in Karima at a Nubian house
Day 5, Thursday, August 04: Drive back to Khartoum for overnight
Day 6, Friday, August 05: Evening departure.

Hi Valerie. Did you ever get a reply?? I’ve had the same issue with non-returned communications. I finally reached out to Dr. Runoko and he assured that the trip was still on. Communications with travel persons need to be improved.
